International Learning Opportunities
Here is a list of selected international learning experiences for teachers. Most of these programs pay for the majority of the travel and learning expenses.
Teachers for Global Classrooms
IREX--International Research and Exchange Board
United States Department of State
TGC Fellows become global ambassadors in their classrooms, schools, and broader communities through:
• Collaboration with U.S. and international colleagues to promote mutual understanding.
• Rigorous professional development so teachers return to their schools as catalysts for global engagement.
• International field experience and curriculum development focused on global competency, technology integration, and cross cultural communication.
I applied and was selected to participate in the Teachers for Global Classrooms Program during the 2014-15 school year. I completed an on-line course, attended a Global Education Symposium in Washington, D.C., completed my International Field Experience in India and finished my capstone project.

Holocaust and Jewish Resistance Teachers' Program
The Holocaust and Jewish Resistance Teachers' Program provides an intensive two week summer learning and living experience in Washington, DC, Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic for U.S. secondary school teachers who are committed to teaching about the Holocaust and Jewish resistance in their classes upon completion of the program.
I applied and was accepted to participate in this program in the summer or 2009. It was my first extensive travel and dedicated experience. It was truly life changing and made me realize the more you learn, the more you realize how much more you want to know.

The Korea Society Summer Fellowship in Korean Studies for American Educators
The Korea Society aims to further develop the teaching of Korea in K-12 schools across the U.S., thereby enhancing the overall curricula. The Fellowships provide a unique opportunity for participants to develop a critical and engaging eye into modern day Korea while maintaining proper perspective on the nation’s rich history.
Educators, such as classroom instructors, textbook editors & writers, and curriculum specialists are invited to spend approximately twelve days in South Korea, participating in various lectures, excursions, and discussions, as well as independent research in order to gain an enriched understanding of both Korea’s past and present.

I applied for and was accepted to participate in the 2012 Korea Society Summer Fellowship and visited South Korea on an intensive educational and cultural tour. With about 30 other American educators, I attended seminars at Korea University, traveled throughout the country and learned about the Korea's history, politics, culture, economics and educational system.
