This site is inspired by my participation in the 2015 Teachers for Global Classrooms Fellowship Program sponsored by the United States Department of State and administered by the International Research and Exchange Board.
The title of my website comes from a quote from Wade Davis of the National Geographic. As I reflect on my experience in India as part of the Fellowship Program, my students at Waverly High School in Lansing, Michigan, my other travel and life experiences, I find tremendous truth in Mr. Davis' quote. Here it is in its entirely.
"The world in which you were born is just one model of reality. Other cultures are not failed attempts at being you; they are unique manifestations of the human spirit."
As I worked through my IREX course work, learned at the Global Symposium and embraced my International Field Experience, it became increasingly clear that the reality of 21st century American students will be infinitely more globalized than preceding generations. My students will require different training, seek out different perspectives and understand that there are many models of reality.
My goals for this website are; *provide a record of my experience as a TGC Fellow *provide a list of resources for teachers interested in Global Education *provide a forum to engage other teachers interested in Global Education
